Abstract

"Mommy, I drew you a picture," Virginia said.

"Oooh, gimme."

"What do you see?"

"Umm. That's me? Right? Big head?"

"Yes!"

"Annnnd....that's Devon, with a game controller in his hand. You with a book."

"Yes! Good, Mommy! What else?"

"That's...is that Chris?"

She looked at me like I was stupid. "No, silly. That's Harmony. In this picture, Chris is outside mowing the lawn because he doesn't want you to get all yelly."

"Why is she bigger than everyone else?"

"She just is."

"She looks like Shrek. And what is all that brown stuff under her?"

"Poop."

I looked at her, eyebrow cocked.

"What?" she asked. "She poops a lot."

"Oh. Ok. Wait a minute...why don't I have any lips? You have lips. Devon has lips."

"My picture, Mommy. My world."

"But I want lips," I whined.

She snatched the picture out of my hand with a harrumph of disgust. "Perspective, Mom. It's all about perspective."

On that note, here's my new giveaway: a $25 gift e-certificate for www.crayola.com. Leave a comment if you're interested and I'll pick a winner Saturday morning, this time, since I'm putting it up so late.

Good luck!

Lips, who needs lips?? When Chris is done with your lawn will you send him to mine?

Love the convo with the child.. it's too funny!

I'm thinking she didn't give you lips so you wouldn't get all "yelly" if Chris doesn't cut the grass right.

I love crayons - they don't dry up and leave you hanging. Also, do they have interesting names like your last gift?

And I promise I'll always draw lips.

OMG there are peeps like me who STILL enjoy coloring? It is so relaxing and makes me feel like a kid. I am not a freak! YAY! One question, though - why is it so F'ING hard to find nice, fat INTERESTING coloring books? Remember those? With Bugs Bunny, Barbie, etc. Why can I only find 12 page thingys that have a block to color - suitable for a toddler? Crayola should make coloring books! I have loved their 64 box of wonders since I was a kid...

My boss let his son use the PRISTINE Crayolas (a 64-box, no less) on my desk, and the little bastard BROKE THE RED ONE.

Need I say more?

Dude, do you have any idea the use I could get out of that cert for my Cub Scout den? We've put a hurtin' on the crayons we had at the start of the year, not to mention the abuse they've received from my kids. It totally wouldn't hurt my feelings if, you know, picked my name. Just sayin'.

I am also a "kid" who still loves to color. My 2 year old breaks the crayola's and I find myself hiding them from him now. I know, but I couldn't share them in kindergarten either, what are ya gonna do?

I would love to have some new Crayola, then son can have all his broken ones back!!!
