My legs are lead and my head hurts.
I know this is good for me. I know that caffeine and carbonation is killing my organs. I quit smoking, I quit drinking. I can do this. And I don't intend to stop at 5 days.

good for you! you can do it! keep it up. one day at a time...how did you quit smoking?
Yay! You can do it! Keep up the good work!
well, I didn't really smoke at work so I wore a patch for a couple of days. And seeing my dad (who is slowly dying from emphysema and chf) suffering and fighting to breathe---i just didnt want my kids to have to go through that. But, I know many people who have quit with Chantix. I've heard incredible things about it
Seriously though, throw in ONE Dr. Pepper otherwise your head will kill you
Both my husband and I used Chantix and it worked GREAT, one of the easiest things we've done and we've been smoke free for almost 2 years now. However, they do say it can lead to suicidal thoughts etc so may not be the best for everyone.
Horray for Crystal! Cutting soda out completely and totally will be hard. Maybe cutting back to just one a day will work. Otherwise the caffiene deprivation headaches will incapacitate you. I tried cutting out soda completely and the headaches were killers. So I have just one soda a day, and I'm good. I made myself grab a 16.9 oz bottle of water each time I wanted to grab a soda, and that has made me feel much better and be able to sleep better at night. I drink a lot of bottles of water now.
I know you can do it Crystal! The hard part will be maintaining the healthier water drinking for life.
Love, Jennifer
Sister, I had a mean diet Pepsi habit about 17 years ago. Gah! I was bed ridden for days coming down from that. Boy, I use to vacuum really fast back then.
Get on club soda. If you have a grocery store called Sweet Bay get the raspberry/lime combo. It smells like skittles and is unsweetened, scented water. Kind of like a pacifier.
Don't rip my leg off and beat me to death with it when it is a total let down at first ... it's an acquired taste.
Psst. many of the soda machines at restaurants n such have a water button and a soda button. Order water and treat yourself to club soda.
You're absolutely awesome for doing this, first of all, and I'm convinced that quitting smoking is easier than drinking all this water (I quit), but OMG, I'm pretty sure everyone at work is positive that the chubby chick (me) is pregnant...I keep running to the bathroom and peeeeeeeeeeing!!!!
You are really brave for trying to cut all the unhealthy stuff out of your life!
Keep it up! You can beat it!
If you make it through day 3 you've won. Seriously. Usually on day four of a detox I feel much better than the first three days. Hope it works that way for you. :)
Yay! You can do it! You will feel so awesome once you're done with the caffeine withdrawal, I promise!
Wow, go you! If it were me, the headaches would be enough to dissuage me from cold turkey. I did that with coffee a few years ago and it was NOT PRETTY. Are you still liking the tea flavor the best?
Go Crystal, go!!
If you quit smoking, you can do this!
side bonus to drinking more water (for me, at least): way, way less UTI's.
WOOOOOOOOOOOO FOR YOUUUUUUUUU!
Yay Crystal!!! Go, Go, Go!!! Team Crystal (Light)! WooHoo!!!
*Spirit Fingers*
When I quit Coke, I ended up curled in a fetal position, in the dark with the worst headache of my life. Giving up sugar, caffeine and that brown corn syrup at once is a killer. Try green tea or coffee for a caffeine substitute. Right now you are detoxing and your body feels like shit. In a day or two you will start feeling awesome. I promise, I've been there! If you break down, how about a Diet Dr. Pepper?
GO CRYSTAL!! WHOOT WHOOT!!
*pom poms* You go, Crys! Hang in there!
Well, I'm not big on soda as it is, but kudos for keeping it up! I have to have my coffee everyday.
Now if I could only quit smoking...
BTW, my mom was on Chantix and Xanax at the same time. NOT pretty. AT ALL.
I am completely with you on loving Dr. Pepper and not-loving drinking water. But when I saw your Crystal Light Challenge, I jumped in with you.
To avoid any caffeine withdrawal headaches, I bought a six-pack of those itty-bitty cans of Dr. Pepper. It was enough to take care of both my cravings and the withdrawal symptoms.
Good luck to both of us!
I'm sure you'd love to beat the next Positive Patty over the head with a 2 liter of D.P., but really... good for you. Sometimes it's harder to do the right, or in this case healthy, thing for ourselves than it is to do for, say our children. Just think that you are setting an example for positive change for your children, no matter how old the bad habit is.
Crystal, I'm super proud of you for quitting smoking. My favorite person in the whole wide world DIED of lung cancer and STILL, I smoke.
Thank you for setting yet another good example for me. First the water, now smoking. I'm going to try to quit soon, I'm on my last carton.
Also, I lost 3 lbs last week from all the dang water/CL drinking! WOO HOO!!
Word verification: Yes, I'm very ANSCOUS about quitting smoking. LOL
I quit smoking 9 years ago. I is very hard I still dream about dropping a lit cig. Wake up looking for it. Good job on the no soda, more water chalange! You can do it!
Good for you!!
