Every night, about midnight, Harmony crawls into bed with us and we're usually too tired to put her back in her room. About 4 a.m., for some inexplicable reason, she lifted her leg straight up in the air and brought her heel down and into my jaw. I shrieked into the pillow, sat on the toilet and hyperventilated for about five minutes and then cried myself back to sleep. When I woke up an hour later, the swelling was back and I tasted blood in the back of my throat.
ON A POSITIVE NOTE, there was no Dr Pepper for me today, either. I went to bed last night thinking that I was feeling a bit better and maybe my stitched up jaw could handle the carbonation. Harmony crushed that dream like a bug under her tiny, little shoe. So, thanks, Harmony. Glass half full and all that crap.
Where was I going with this?
Oh! Positive thoughts. Lemonade from lemons. Happy, happy, joy, joy. Grin through the blood and swelling and broken stitches. Why busted stitches??! Well, because your toddler suffers from freaking restless leg syndrome!
I drank about a gallon of peach tea and lemonade today. Honestly, I'm finding the tips you guys are leaving me and the support is making all this easier, much, much easier.
Then again, it could be the massive bottle of painkillers.
Whatever. 4 days down, 1 to go and I feel groovy. How are you doing?

OMG I can't imagine how bad that hurt...I hope you're feeling a bit better...maybe you should go sleep in Harmony's bed tonight...
I believe that if life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade... And try to find somebody whose life has given them vodka, and have a party.
One BIG TIP I've gotten about Crystal Lite and the Wyler's brand as well is to mix it with hot water first, then let it cool. My mother in law makes lots and lots of the stuff because her husband is diabetic. I've had it made her way, and I can honestly say it's so much tastier.
So yeah. Hot water.
OMG, that must've hurt. One thing duct tape is good for is securing small children to walls, you know. And she would probably think it was fun for a while.
My mouth hurts for you, just reading that made me cringe! The peach tea would be easier than the lemonaid to drink on your poor mouth. if the bleeding keeps up take a iced tea bag and put it on the busted stich area. You are so close to the end! The end is near. I thank you for your blog, It is a must read!
Oh, you poor darlin'! Caffeine withdrawal AND surgery? What-- "Crystal Light Challenge" wasn't challenging enough, you had to make sure you got the maximum pain from the experience (including having your angelic baby kick you in the kisser as well)?
All I can say is that you must have been a really, REALLY terrible person in your last life to be put through so much crap in this one. Here's to your getting everything wonderful in life from here on out, honey.
Ouch! I cringed when I read that. I hope you feel better!
I swear! Could we add another insult to this injury! Good GRACIOUS! There better be a Leprechaun with a pot of gold sitting at the end of this rainbow! This has been one awful week!
If you find that there is no Leprechaun, bring yourself and that Crystal Light over to my house and we will find some ways of bartendering it up into something both better tasting and jaw numbing!
OWWW, that sounds terribly painful!!! Hope you feel better soon!
Now for the challenge cheering.... GO CRYSTAL! You Go Girl! Keep, keep , keep it up, keep the C.L. challenge up!!! Yay!!!
I know, I'm such a dork.....
The one about duct-taping your child to the wall? Funny and yet not so funny. And then funny again! I'm sorry you got thwacked and hope you heal quickly. Good luck with day 5!
Wow, ouch!! So sorry to hear Harmony got you like that!! Ibroke my big toe and my 4yr old keeps standing on it but I still don't think that could hurt as bad as you!!
Yeah day 4 down! Great job!
Wow -- I just had dental surgery, too! One of the things I did was mix my Raspberry Ice with about half the water that the recipe calls for, and froze that liquid into freezer pops! Not only was I getting the water, it was soothing to my poor jaw! I also sucked down quite a bit the regular way since the drugs they gave me made me have cottonmouth something awful!
Good luck -- keep hanging on! Oh, and alternate ibuprofen and acetominophen every three hours. That way, you double up on the OTC meds, and less pain for you. Ibuprofen will also help with the swelling.
sympathizing with your pain!
feel better soon!
